On May 12th, our traditional Badge Awarding Day took place in the Hall of our school. The new Prefects’ parents were there as well as the kids, who proudly wore their red, blue and yellow T-shirts. We also welcomed our Housemistresses: Miss Marina, Miss Barbie and Miss Mariel.
Our Headmistress, Miss Valerie gave the audience a thorough explanation about the famous explorers that give name to our three Houses. They mentioned their feats and highlighted the values and attitudes during their successive explorations setting an example to the generations to come.
Among some of their famous phases we shared these:
Henry Hudson:
«You can’t fly like an eagle with the wings of a wren.»
David Livingstone:
«I am prepared to go anywhere, provided it be forward.»
Sir Ernest Shackleton:
«Difficulties are just things to overcome, after all.»
After this, Miss Valerie and Miss Dorys, our Deputy Head, called the Housemistresses to hand out the diplomas to the new Prefects.
In an atmosphere of joy and excitement, the new Prefects went on stage to get hold of their diplomas, read the oaths on the fulfilment of their Prefects’ duties and celebrate with their mates.
Once the ceremony was over, the new Prefects had some pictures taken with the standards and flags of their Houses.

El 12 de mayo, se celebró el Badge Awarding Day con la presencia de las familias de los/as nuevos/as Junior y Games Prefects.
Nuestra Directora, Sra. Valeria Peirano, dio una clara explicación a la audiencia acerca de quiénes fueron los célebres personajes que dan nombre a las tres Houses: Hudson, Livingstone y Shackleton.
Se mencionaron sus valientes exploraciones y resaltaron los valores que nos han dejado como ejemplo de sus reiteradas expediciones.
Entre algunas de sus frases famosas, compartimos éstas:
Henry Hudson:
«No se puede volar como un águila con las alas de un ave pequeña.»
David Livingstone:
«Estoy preparado para ir a cualquier lugar, siempre que sea para adelante.»
Sir Ernest Shackleton:
«Las dificultades son sólo cosas que hay que superar, después de todo.»
A continuación, Miss Valerie y Miss Dorys, nuestra Vicedirectora, convocaron a las Housemistresses a entregar los diplomas a los/as nuevos/as Prefects.
En un clima de alegría y entusiasmo, los/as alumnos/as subieron al escenario a recibir su diploma, leer su juramento sobre el cumplimiento de sus tareas como Prefects y celebrar junto a sus compañeros/as.
Al finalizar la ceremonia, los/as chicos/as se tomaron fotos junto a los estandartes y los banderines de sus respectivas casas.
